Exosome Therapy for Grey Hair: What We Know and Do Not
The sources we cite include no controlled study showing that exosomes reverse grey hair in people. They include one report about a single patient and one small uncontrolled study of 10 people. That is not enough to promise any change in color.
Hair loss can have medical causes. See a doctor or dermatologist before starting any treatment.

What the research says
The sources we cite include no controlled study in people. They include two small reports, both with the same lead author and both uncontrolled.
- A 2025 observational study followed 10 people with grey or white hair who had exosomes made from rose cells applied with various procedures. The authors reported repigmentation in some of them, lasting an average of about 5 months, and called for larger controlled studies (PMID 41201122).
- A 2025 letter described one patient with a white patch of hair who had exosomes applied together with a laser. It reported partial regression of the repigmented area at 10 months. One author works at a company that makes exosomes (PMID 40088003).
Why this is weak evidence
- No comparison group, so we cannot tell what would have happened anyway
- Ten people and one person
- Different procedures mixed together, including a laser
- The color returned for months, not for good
Can exosomes reverse grey hair?
Not shown. We do not promise a return of natural color. If you notice a change in your hair color that is sudden or comes with other symptoms, ask a doctor.
Why hair turns grey
Hair turns grey when follicles lose the cells that make pigment. The 2025 observational study describes it as an age-linked process that exosome therapy might target (PMID 41201122). Whether it can is the question these small reports do not answer.
Questions
Can exosomes reverse grey hair?
No controlled study among the sources we cite shows that. They include one report about a single patient and one small uncontrolled study of 10 people.
Why does hair turn grey?
Hair turns grey when follicles lose the pigment-making cells that give hair its color. This is mostly linked to age. A doctor can tell you whether anything else is involved.
